How to plan an ODT team-building workshop
Five steps to turn an idea into a day that truly works, whether you are a work team, a school, a yeshiva or a community.
Five steps to a workshop that works
1. Define the goal
Before anything else, ask: what should the group take away? Bonding a new team, building trust, improving communication, or simply a shared experience that breaks the routine. The goal drives every other choice.
2. Know the group
A work team, a class, a yeshiva or a community, every group has its own character. Ages, size, background and group dynamics determine which activities will work and which will not.
3. Choose place and format
An indoor workshop with simple equipment fits almost anywhere, while an outdoor activity in nature adds challenge and adventure. The two can also be combined in a single day.
4. Build the workshop together
Once the goal and the group are clear, our facilitators build a tailored program: a sequence of challenges and group games that leads to real learning, not just fun.
5. Head out
On the day itself, the facilitator leads the group through the experience, pauses for reflection at the right moments, and makes sure every participant finds their place.
Questions worth answering in advance
- Who is the workshop for and how large is the group?
- What is the main goal of the day?
- Where will the activity take place, indoors or outdoors?
- How much time do you have?
- Are there special considerations to take into account?
No need to arrive with all the answers. A short conversation with us will help you sharpen the goal and build the right day for your group.
